Using 'Iguana --run' to Debug Iguana

Running Iguana --run from a command prompt is very useful for diagnosing problems with Iguana. This allows you to run Iguana manually and diagnose issues quickly when the Iguana service will not start.

When you use Iguana --run from a command prompt, the Iguana server is being run as a normal console process instead of as a service. This allows you to diagnose issues such as:

  • Incompatible versions of Chameleon - you should be using the version of Chameleon (or higher) that's shipped with Iguana.
  • Port conflicts - you may have applications on your system that are already listening on ports that Iguana wants to use.

When using Iguana --run, note that it uses the current user permissions, not the admin or localsystem permissions for services.

To use Iguana --run:

  • Open a command prompt window.
  • Type Iguana --run from the command prompt.

Iguana outputs several types of information, including:

IguanaConfiguration.xmlIguana uses a new channel configuration file called IguanaConfiguration.xml in versions 4.0 and later. Iguana will automatically convert any existing Iguana configuration files into the new format. If there are any issues, Iguana will output them in the Command Prompt window.
Database Information (e.g. libmysql.dll, oci.dll, etc.) Iguana tries to load the databases that are specified in your channel configuration. If certain databases are not present or supported, it provides an explanation (e.g. Oracle OCI support not present).
Server Information

Iguana outputs server information, including:

  • The URL the server is current listening on;
  • Whether or not the HTTPS server is enabled;
  • Whether or not there are any port conflicts with other processes.
Channel Status (Iguana 4.0 only)

Iguana 4.0 outputs the status of any channels that are automatically started when Iguana is started.

Log Index Files (Iguana 4.0 only)

Iguana 4.0 outputs information on the status of the log index files that are rebuilt.
