Adding a Python Function For Each Name Field Being Replaced

Since you will be replacing the names in the PID, IN1 and NK1 fields with the text string, fff, you must add a Python function to the Outbound Script's name field for each segment.

To add Python code to the PID segment:

• Under Segments, double-click PID. The Segment PID window appears.
• In the Patient Name row, click the Outbound Script ellipsis... button. The Editing Script window appears.
• Copy and paste the following code into the Editing Script window:

# we invoke a global function called scrub_name
value = scrub_name(field)

• Click OK to add the code to the PID segment field.

Repeat the above process for the other two segments (IN1 and NK1), making sure you add the Python function to the correct Outbound Script field. Use the table below for reference:
