Advantages Over Graphical Transformation

Scripted transformation has the following advantages over graphical transformation:

• It's extremely fast - even for complex maps, it's possible to process hundreds of messages per second.

• When only 20% of a message needs to be changed, this technique can result in very lean code since most of the message can be passed through unchanged.

• Because scripted transformation is script-based, not point-and-click, this approach is usually faster to implement.

• It's easy to make reusable routines to carry out commonly used manipulations like cleaning up phone numbers.

While some customers might initially prefer a graphical approach to mapping HL7, most end up preferring the power offered by scripted transformation.
