Opening an HL7 Message Directly Within the Message Browser

Chameleon allows you to open a text file of an HL7 message directly within the Message Browser. This not only opens the HL7 message directly in the Browser but also parses the message simultaneously.

To open an HL7 message directly within the Message Browser:

• Open Chameleon, and click File > Open. The Open dialog window appears.
• In the Files of type drop-down menu, select Browse HL7 Message (*.txt, *hl7). You can open any message with a .txt or .hl7 extension.

• Navigate to the directory containing the HL7 message you want to open, and click Open. The message you selected is opened and parsed automatically using the Message Browser.

	The one-step approach described above is one method you could use to open and parse messages using the Message Browser. An alternative approach would be to do the following: Open a message in a text editor. Copy and paste the message into the top pane of the Message Browser. Click Parse to parse the message.
