Configuring the Source: Message Filter

The last step in this section is to configure the Message Filter source component:

• In the Incoming channel name field, select a valid incoming channel definition from a choice list.
• In the Filter index (sub-channel ID#) field, select the sub-channel to use from the incoming channel. This field must be different between the two channels at this point. (i.e. one channel has to be 1 and the other has to be 2).
• In the Poll time (milliseconds) field, specify the number of milliseconds between subsequent queries to the database for the next outgoing message with the "waiting" status.
• Leave the Full filter VMD path (req. to transform and ignore) field blank.
• Select the No Transformation option.
• In the Error Handling field, select Skip Message.

• Click the Add Channel button to add the channel to the Iguana dashboard.
• Click the Export Database Tables link.
• Check the Channel Log Tables, and click Export Tables. The tables are exported to the applicable database API.
• In the Automatically purge error logs older than field, specify when error logs will be stale and can be deleted.

You can leave everything else as is. You only need to configure the other fields if you want to do scripted transformation or ignore functions, all of which is covered in the HL7 Transformation tutorial.

After you have configured the source message filter, you will have successfully set up all of the required channels in order to perform simple routing functions. In the next step, you will test your configuration.
