Creating a New Date Format

The next step is to create a new date format, so that only the year, month and date information is captured. Currently the date is formatted like this:

Let's say that your counterparty wants the date in this format: YYYYMMDD (Year/Month/Day).

To fix the date format:

• In the Workspace, right-click Date Time Formats and select New > Date Time Format. A new Date Time Format appears in the Workspace.
• Right-click Date Time Format, and select Rename. The Enter new name window appears.
• In the Enter new name field, type Date.
• Click OK to save the change.

Naming the Date Format

• Double-click Date in the workspace. The Date Time Format window appears.
• Click the drop-down arrow, and select Year(4 digit) as the first field.
• Right-click Year(4 digit), and select Add Field.
• Click the drop-down arrow, and select Month.
• Repeat the last two steps, and select Day.
• Add the following text in the Description field: (YYYY)[MM[DD]].

Your final Date Time Format window should look like this:

• In the workspace under Composites, double-click TS (Time stamp). The TS Composite window appears.
• Under Data Type, select Date. You will notice that the new date time format is instantly reflected in the bottom pane of the Transformation window, as shown below.
