Creating Another Configuration

As previously discussed, using multiple configurations has many tangible benefits. The most prominent benefit for HL7 application designers is that you could use the same interface across different sites. What this means is that just by adding other configurations, you can change the parsing capabilities of your interface (i.e. expected segment grammar, message identity, segment Python scripts, etc.) to accommodate other messages. In theory you can utilize the same application an infinite amount of times for several sites.

To create another configuration:

• Click the Configuration ellipsis button above the Workspace. The iNTERFACEWARE Chameleon Configurations window appears.
• Click the Rename button. The Enter new configuration name window appears.

Entering a New Configuration Name

• Name the current configuration, Acme Hospital, so you can easily differentiate between the two types of configurations.
• Click OK to close the window.
• Click the Add button. The Add New Configuration window appears.
• In the Configuration name field, type Magic Hospital and click OK. The iNTERFACEWARE Chameleon Configurations window displays the two configurations.
• Click Close to exit.
