Editing the Optional/Repeating Properties of Segments

You can make a segment optional or repeating by:

  • Using the Optional or Repeating option in the context menu of the Segment Grammar panel, or
  • Using the Optional or Repeating checkboxes at the bottom of the Segment Grammar panel.

Only the First of Unlimited Repeating Segments can be Mapped

Checking the Repeat checkbox with 0 for unlimited repeating segments will allow messages to be recognized when those segments appear in a message, however, only the first segment will appear when performing the mapping.

This occurs because Chameleon uses a one-to-one mapping between a segment's composite value and a table entry. To map the other fields, ensure that you have a limited number of repeat segments to allow mapping to take place between your table and any of the repeating segments. You can set the number of Repeats in the Segment Grammar panel.
