Escaping Data for XML -> HL7 Translation

Chameleon allows you to escape data for XML -> HL7 Translation when using the Full Tree Validation or Standard Version 2 translation schemes. When this option is enabled, Chameleon escapes special characters when translating messages from XML to HL7.

	For all other supported XML Translation Schemes, escaping of special characters is performed automatically. Consequently, the Escape Data for XML -> HL7 option will be unavailable. For more information, see XML Tab.

To enable escaping when using the Full Tree Validation scheme:

• Click Chameleon > Options. The Options window appears.

• Click the Message Delimiters tab, and choose Custom in the Configuration drop-down menu.

• Configure the escape format to use in the spreadsheet, as shown below.

• Click the XML tab.

• In the XML Translation Scheme field, choose Full Tree Validation or STANDARD VER 2.

• Ensure the Escape Data for XML -> HL7 option is checked, and click OK to confirm your changes.

	You can easily test the escape options from the XML Translation Window.
