Examining the Sample Message

The first step, as always, is to examine an example sample HL7 message:

  • Open the VMD file that you have been building throughout this tutorial.
  • Copy and paste the following message into the Message Browser.

By looking at field 9 of the MSH segment, you will see that this message is not an ADT message at all. So, the next step is to create a new message to accommodate the message type.
