General Architecture

The core of Chameleon is implemented in C++ in the dynamic linked library called CHM_LIB3.dll. This library has a COM interface which is how Visual Basic support is implemented.

The type library for the COM interface is called VMlibrary 1.0 Type Library. The name has not changed since the first version of Chameleon in order to preserve backwards compatibility.

Since its inception, iNTERFACEWARE's goal has been to ensure backwards compatibility because we understand how busy our customers are, and we realize that the last thing customers want to do is to rewrite their HL7 interfaces with each release of Chameleon.
