Message Definitions |
Each Message Definition represents one HL7 message inside your VMD file. Each Message Definition consists of three objects: Message Grammar, Identity and Transformation Script. For more information about each object, click the following links:
Each message definition object is also briefly described in the table below:

| Message Grammar | The message grammar consists of two items: (1) Segment Grammar and (2) Table Grammar. Segment Grammar: Defines the HL7 format of the message. Table Grammar: Defines the mapping between the actual message and the internal representation of the message definition as seen by your application. |
| Identity | Defines the message fields and values that Chameleon uses to identify the message definition. |
| Transformation Script | If Scripted Transformation is enabled in the Transformation window, this script is used to transform an HL7 message from its original format into the final desired output using Python. |
