If not checked, Chameleon will generate an error if a message contains a
segment that is not defined in its segment grammar. If checked, the
additional segment will simply be ignored.
To ignore/not ignore segments:
Double-click the message's Message Grammar. The Message Grammar window opens.
At the bottom of the Segment Grammar panel, check Ignore Segments not in grammar.
Checking the Ignore Segments Not in Grammar Option
Using the Ignore segments not in grammar option is a very useful feature. For instance:
No interface should reject messages that
contain extra site-specific Z-segments.
Interfaces that
can tolerate extra and previously unknown segments are more
likely to continue working when your counterparty upgrades their
HL7 implementation. This makes for less work and less interface downtime.
