Importing the Required Segments From the Library

Now that you have finished creating a message definition, you need to import the segments that your HL7 message will contain.

To import the required segments from the library:

• In the Workspace menu, select Import Segments From Library. The Import Segments From Library window appears.
• In this window, the Import segments from a library radio button is selected, and the most recent HL7 library is selected from the associated list box. You can leave these settings at these values, as HL7 version 2.x libraries are backwards compatible. Click Next.

• Check MSH and PID, and then click Next and Finish. The segments that you have imported appear in the Workspace in a section labelled Segments:

• Save the VMD file at this point, and call it hl7out.vmd.
