Installing Iguana on Unix

This section shows you how to install Iguana on a Unix-based system for the first time.

	Note that you must be using gcc compiler version 3.4 or above to install Iguana on a Linux machine.

To install Iguana in Unix:

• If you are installing Iguana on a Linux-based system, first find the gcc compiler version that your system is currently using, otherwise, skip to the next step. For example:

gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 3.4.6 (Gentoo 3.4.6-r2, ssp-3.4.6-1.0, pie-8.7.10)

The above command will return the version of the gcc compiler you are using, but may not work on all Linux-based systems.

• Visit ftp://ftp.interfaceware.com/iguana/, and download the Iguana version and applicable tar.

• Unpack the tarball on the machine that you want to run it on. The tarball is unpacked into a directory called iNTERFACEWARE-Iguana. For example:

tar -xvzf iguana_linux_gcc-3_4_4.tar.gz

• Go to the directory that the tarball unpacked into. For example:

cd iNTERFACEWARE-Iguana

• Verify that everything unpacked properly on your system by checking the contents of the applicable directory. For example, typing ls checks the contents of the directory:

ls
AdminConfiguration.xml  ack_verify.vmd  iguana_service      server_docs
Iguana                  autoack.vmd     iguana_service.hdf  web_docs
License.txt             autonack.vmd    lib

• Set the following variable to <iguana install directory>/lib:

CHM_PYTHON_LIB_PATH

• Run Iguana as an exe or daemon. To run Iguana as an exe or daemon, type the following:

Running Iguana as an Executable

./Iguana --run

Running Iguana as a Daemon

./Iguana_service

	Invalid Chameleon License Error You may receive an error message stating that the host machine does not have a valid Chameleon license after registering Iguana - please ignore the error. There was an issue in Iguana versions 3.2.155 and earlier that caused this error to be displayed before the registration could be loaded. This issue does not affect Iguana versions 3.3 and later. After you have successfully installed Iguana, the next step is to register it with the license key provided to you in your member's account. Note that you do not have to register Chameleon separately from Iguana. Once you register Iguana, Chameleon is automatically registered at the same time.
