Configuring the HL7 Listener

The first step of the testing process is to configure and start the HL7 Listener. You need to do this first to ensure that channel 2, whose destination is LLP Client, has an application with which to connect.

To configure the HL7 Listener:

• Open the HL7 Listener application. (To access it, click Start, then Programs, iNTERFACEWARE, HL7 Analytical Tools and HL7 Listener.)
• In the Message log file field, specify a message log file to which incoming messages will be written.
• In the Port Number field, type the port number you specified in Configuring the Destination: LLP Client.
• Select the Append to message log file? check box. When this option is checked, the Listener adds messages to the end of the selected log file instead of overwriting previously saved messages.
• Click Start to begin listening for messages.

Configuring the HL7 Listener

Once you have the Listener properly configured, you are ready to start the channels.
