Making Changes Using Iguana 4.0

To modify your Iguana channel so that it can process Patient Merge messages, you must:

• Ensure that your channel is accessing the updated VMD file;
• Update the database tables to include the PatientMerge table.

To ensure that your channel is accessing the updated VMD file:

• In Iguana, click the Dashboard tab.
• In the Dashboard, locate your channel. If it is running, click Stop to stop it.
• Click the channel name to view the configuration for your channel.
• Click the Destination tab.
• In the Destination: To Database section, ensure that the Full parser VMD path field is pointed to the latest VMD file. If it is not, click Edit Channel, change Full parser VMD path to point to the new file, and click Save Changes to save your changes.

Verifying the Parser VMD Path

The next step is to update the database tables to include the PatientMerge table. This will ensure that information can be extracted from ADT^A18 messages. Since your database currently does not have a PatientMerge table, you have two options:

• Create a PatientMerge table manually. Make sure it has exactly the same columns as the table you just defined in your VMD mapping file.
• Let Iguana create the table for you.

To let Iguana create the table for you:

• Stop the channel if it is running.
• In the Dashboard, click the channel name to view the channel configuration.
• Click the Tables tab.

• Click Export Destination Tables. A page appears, warning you that the SQL command that you are about to run will actually drop and recreate the Patient table as well. If you do not want to do this, then just copy out the CREATE PatientMerge SQL statement and issue it manually to your database.
• If you do not mind losing your existing Patient table, click Confirm Table Export.
• Once the PatientMerge table exists in your database, you can re-start the channel in Iguana and send some test data to it using the HL7 Simulator as outlined under Testing the Configuration.
