Mapping One Table Column to Multiple Segment Fields

By using simple Python scripts, you can easily handle mappings to multiple segment fields. For example, let's say you have a table defined which contains a date and you require it to be in multiple segment fields. You can use Python to handle such a situation.

	This example shows you how to map a date column to multiple segment fields. The steps will vary only slightly when mapping other table columns.

To map one table column to multiple segment fields:

• Open your VMD file in Chameleon.
• In the Workspace, double-click the table you want to map a column for (e.g. TXA table). The TXA table appears as shown below.

• Click the Outbound Script ellipsis button for the Date_Time row. The Editing Script window appears.
• In the Editing Script window, type in the following and click OK:

After you click OK, the script appears in the Outbound Script column for the TXA Table.

• In the Workspace, double-click the Segment you want to assign the date value to. In this case you are mapping the date value to Activity Date/Time, Origination Date/Time and Transcription Date/Time.

• For each segment field (e.g. Activity Date/Time, Origination Date/Time and Transcription Date/Time), click the Outbound Script ellipsis button and type in the following:

The script appears in the Outbound Script column for each applicable segment field as shown below.

	If you need to do several one-to-many mappings of this kind, make sure each Python variable (e.g. Date) has a unique name.
