iNTERFACEWARE supports a carefully selected set of Python libraries (modules). This set of modules is limited for the following reasons:

• To reduce the number of compatibility issues. Any change in the behavior of a Python library can cause significant problems for your development team and may require considerable time and effort to resolve. Limiting the set of supported Python libraries ensures that any interface you develop with Iguana and Chameleon will remain stable for a long period of time.

• To ensure ease of development and maintenance. Iguana and Chameleon have been designed to enable you to develop HL7 interfaces quickly and easily. Because interfaces built using Iguana and Chameleon are easy to understand, anyone new to your organization will not need much time to learn how your interface works. This reduces maintenance difficulties.

• To enable timely and helpful support. Because the number of implementation methods is limited and clearly defined, any support issues that arise during your development process can be quickly and accurately resolved.

	For the reasons listed above, loading of dynamic Python modules written in C is also disabled.
