Generating Schemas and DTDs

You can generate DTDs, XML schemas and Biztalk Schemas for every flavor of XML that Chameleon supports. Using the XML Schema Generation window, you can specify whether a single file is produced, or one file is produced per message.

To generate a schema file:

Click Chameleon > Generate Schema. The XML Schema Generation window appears.

In the Type drop-down menu, select one of three schemas: DTD Schema, XSD Schema or Microsoft Biztalk XML Schema.

In the Schema Name field, enter the desired filename of the schema file.

Click the Change button to choose the desired Output Format. The Options window appears.

Under Schema Generation, select one of two output formats:

Output Format	Description
Generate one schema file including every message	Select this option if you want to generate a single schema or DTD file for the entire VMD file.
Generate multiple schema files with one message in each file	Select this option if you want to generate multiple schemas. This option creates one file per message.

Click OK to confirm your selection.


	When you select the Generate multiple schema files with one message in each file option, Chameleon automatically uses the name of the messages in the VMD file as the saved filenames. As a result, the Schema Name field will be disabled.

Click Generate to create the files. The schema output is saved in the same directory as the VMD you loaded.
