Selecting a Grammar Root

	If you are unsure about which grammar root to select for a table, see the Grammar Root Selection Guide. This section clarifies when it is suitable to select various types of grammar roots for a particular situation.

To select a grammar root for a table:

• In the Workspace, double-click Message Grammar. The Message Grammar window appears.

• Select a table in the Table Grammar panel, and click the Ellipsis(...) button at the bottom of the panel. The Grammar Root Selection window appears, as shown below.

• Select the message, segment or group that you want to use for the grammar root of your table, and click OK.

	If your message contains groups and you want data from the message to be grouped accordingly, you have to define a table group for each message group.

You can map a number of segments to a single table, as long as you select the entire Message as the grammar root. Once the grammar root has been selected, you can define the actual mappings for the table. For more information, see the Grammar Root Selection Guide.

	If you have a table with existing mappings and you change the grammar root, you may lose some of your mappings. Chameleon will try and do a smart copying of the mappings to make them work relative to the new position of the table's grammar root.
