Sending PDFs and Images Via HL7Some customers need to create HL7 messages to send a PDF file as a payload. This is problematic for a number of reasons:
A better approach for sending PDFs and images is to send your counterparty a URL in the HL7 message. This URL would point to the source PDF document. Consider the following message:
Sample Message If you wanted to send a URL that pointed to a PDF containing test results, all you would need to do is insert the URL inside a segment (note, that this also applies to images). So, using the above example, you could do the following:
