Step 1 - Setting Up the VMD

In order to set up a From Database source component in Iguana, you must specify a Generator VMD file. This generator VMD ("Visual Message Definition") is simply a Chameleon message definition/mapping file. Iguana uses the VMD file not only to determine which tables in the database to inspect and which fields to extract data from, but also to determine the exact form of the outgoing HL7 message. As such, setting up the Chameleon VMD file is a very important step in the design of your outgoing HL7 interface.
