Step 2 - Importing Segments and Creating a Message Definition

The bottom pane of the Message Browser displays the message in tree format. The red colored tags represent undefined segments.

• Return to the Browser, and click the yellow panel that indicates that segments with red icons are unrecognized.
• Import all the unrecognized segments from the library, and click Parse again. In this example, you will need to import the MSH, EVN, PID and PV1 segments. After parsing the message again, all the segment icons should be green.

• Click the yellow panel again to create a new message definition, and add the segment definitions to the segment grammar of the message, ensuring that they are placed in the same order as they appear in the message.

• Return to the Browser, and you will notice that the message is now identified as your defined message.
