Step 2 - Performing HL7 <-> Translation

• Open Chameleon, and complete the message definition for the sample ORU^R01 message. Follow the same basic procedure first described in the Graphical Table Mapping Exercise.

	Note that there is a repeating segment in the message.

• Develop Python code that will translate the pre_translation.txt file into the post_translation.txt file.

	For more information about Python, see Python Scripting. You may also want to review the HL7 <-> Translation documentation.

• Incrementally add HL7 <-> Translation functionality to your VMD file.
• Test these additions by executing msgtransform on pre_translation.txt.
• Compare the resulting output file to the post_translation.txt file using msgdiff, then incrementally add any other required HL7 <-> Translation functionality to the VMD file.
• You can re-iterate through using msgtransform and msgdiff as many times as necessary to achieve the desired format.
