Step 3 - Testing the XML Translation in Chameleon

Before testing the translation functionality in Iguana, it is always good practice to test out the available XML translation options in Chameleon first. Chameleon allows you to interactively test out the available XML translation options from the XML Translation Window.

	Checking the Auto Translate option will translate your messages automatically: (1) When a new message is copied, then pasted into the top pane; or (2) Every two seconds (whichever comes first).

To convert the HL7 message into XML:

• Click the XML icon in the toolbar. The XML Translation window appears.

• Select the HL7 -> XML tab. This option is used to convert HL7 messages to XML.

• Copy the sample message below:

• Paste the sample message into the top pane of the XML Translation Window, and click the Translate button. The HL7 message is converted into XML using the Standard Version 2 translation scheme.

Converting the HL7 Message to XML

To convert the XML message back into HL7:

• Copy the XML output from the bottom pane of the XML Translation window.
• Select the XML -> HL7 tab. This option is used to convert XML messages to HL7.
• Paste the XML message into the top pane, and click the Translate button.
