Step 5 - Sorting a Batch File of Messages Using msgtransform

The msgtransform command-line tool may be used to sort a batch of messages into groups of defined messages, in this case the ADT^A03 and ORM^O01 messages.

• Open a command prompt window.
• Go to the directory where you saved your VMD file and the sample message file.
• Enter the following command:

msgtransform --sort sort.vmd message_id.txt sorted.txt

where sort.vmd may be replaced by the name of your VMD file and message_id.txt is the name of the sample message file. After running this command, three text files will be created: "sorted.txt" displays the message types identified, while the other two files contain messages of the specified type.
