Table Inbound Scripts

Table Inbound Scripts manipulate data at the table column level. They are executed just before data is inserted into tables, and are useful for modifying the table column's values.

To define a Table Inbound Script:

• In the Workspace, double-click the Table to which you want to add an inbound script. The Table Definition window appears. In this example, a table inbound script is being added to the Patient Table:

• In the Inbound Script column, click the ... (ellipsis) button in the row you want to edit. In the above example, the FirstName row is being edited.
• In the Editing Script window, type the script that you want to add, and click OK.

Editing the Table Inbound Script

The following predefined variables and functions are available for use in Table Inbound Scripts:

• The value variable represents the data in the table column for which the script is defined. The data type of this variable depends on the column type, and can be a string, integer, double or date time.
• The table variable contains a method that removes the current row.
• The environment variable specifies methods that enable you to connect to a database or convert and format date/time values.
• Delimiter functions enable you to access the field separator, escape and repeat characters that have been defined in the Message Delimiters tab of the Options window.
