Table Outbound Scripts

Table Outbound Scripts manipulate data at the table column level. They are executed immediately after data is extracted from the tables, and are useful for modifying the table column's values.

To define a Table Outbound Script:

• In the Workspace, double-click the Table to which you want to add an outbound script. The Table Definition window appears. In this example, a table outbound script is being added to the Patient Table:

• In the Outbound Script column, click the ... (ellipsis) button for the row you want to edit. In the above example, the FirstName row is being edited.
• In the Editing Script window, type the script that you want to add, and click OK.

Editing the Table Outbound Script

The following predefined variables and functions are available for use in Table Outbound Scripts:

• The value variable represents the data in the table column for which the script is defined. The data type of this variable depends on the column type, and can be a string, integer, double or date time.
• The environment variable specifies methods that enable you to connect to a database or convert and format date/time values.
• Delimiter functions enable you to access the field separator, escape and repeat characters that have been defined in the Message Delimiters tab of the Options window.
