Testing the Changes in Chameleon

You have now specified the structure of the new table and the mappings from the message into that table.

To test the mapping with the sample message:

• Click Browse in the toolbar to display the Message Browser, if it is not already displayed.
• In the Message Browser, copy the sample message into the top pane, and click Parse.
• Click the Table View tab and the Text View button.

The result should be:

There are a few things to notice about the result of this parsing operation:

• Both tables you defined (Patient and NextOfKin) are listed.
• The Patient table, for which the grammar root was the entire message, has been filled with one row of data.
• The NextOfKin table, for which the grammar root was the NK1 (Next of Kin) segment, has been filled with two rows of data - one for each NK1 segment in the message.
