Toolbar

Typical of any Windows application, the most important and frequently-used features are accessible through icons on the toolbar. These functions can also be accessed through the main menu.

Chameleon Toolbar

The functionality of each toolbar icon is described in the following table:

Toolbar Icon	Description
New	Creates a new empty project. If you click New when a project is already open, Chameleon asks you if you want to save your changes before creating a new project.
Open	Opens the Open dialog window. From this window you can navigate to the directory that your VMD is stored in to open it.
Save	Saves the VMD file in the current directory.
Message	Creates a blank message definition. The new message definition appears in the Workspace.
Table	Creates a blank table definition. The new table appears in the Workspace.
Segment	Creates a blank segment definition. The new segment appears in the Workspace.
Composite	Creates a blank composite definition. The new composite appears in the Workspace.
Date Time	Creates a new Date Time Format definition. The new Date Time Format appears in the Workspace.
Options	Opens the Options window. From the Options Window you can customize configurations to handle different types of message definitions.
Stubcode	Opens the Stubcode Generation Wizard. Chameleon can generate the skeleton of an HL7 interface program that will send, receive and process messages via TCP/IP. After messages, tables and mapping rules are defined, the application code can be generated using the wizard.
Schema	Opens the XML Schema Generation window. Using this window, you can generate DTDs, XML schemas and Biztalk schemas for every flavor of XML that Chameleon supports.
Browse	Opens the Message Browser. Using the Message Browser you can verify that your mappings are correct. Performing a Parse will output the table data that was parsed from the message.
Transform	Opens the Transformation window. The Transformation window allows you to test scripted transformations, table grammar mappings, generated outbound messages, outbound python scripts and outbound post process scripts.
XML	Opens the XML Translation Window. The XML Translation window allows you to interactively test out the available XML translation options, which makes it easy to convert HL7 messages to and from XML.
