Upgrading Iguana in Windows

Iguana's new installer, introduced in version 3.2.148, makes it easy to upgrade your current Iguana installation. This section helps to make the upgrade process as seamless as possible by showing you how to safely upgrade your Iguana and Chameleon installations in Windows. Before upgrading your system in your production environment, iNTERFACEWARE strongly recommends performing the upgrade on a test machine first.

	Important All Iguana versions 3.2.154 and later have a different installation directory structure. To learn more about the new directory structure and how it might affect your installation, please see What's New in Iguana 3.2.154?. For details on all the changes in Iguana since its last release, please visit http://www.interfaceware.com/ftp/iguana/change_log.txt. Prior to Upgrading Attempting to upgrade without a valid maintenance agreement will cause your license to stop working. To avoid any interruptions, make sure you do the following prior to upgrading: If necessary, get your maintenance/support agreement up-to-date. For more information, see Checking the Maintenance Expiry Date in Iguana. If you need to renew your maintenance agreement, please contact a support representative by sending an email to support@interfaceware.com. Apply the updated registration code in Iguana. This updates your maintenance expiry date.

To upgrade Iguana in Windows:

• Stop all running Iguana channels, and change each channels's configuration so that they do not start automatically.

• Back up your existing ChannelConfiguration.xml file from the Iguana installation directory. Ideally, this should be done periodically as a routine backup anyway. Other files you may want to back up include VMD files currently in use and the IguanaLicense file.

• Save a copy of the prior release in a temporary directory, just in case you want to revert back to it after performing the upgrade. You can obtain a copy of the latest release from: ftp://ftp.interfaceware.com/iguana/.

• Check the log key numbers in the Logs page for each channel, and note the last key number, date and time after you stopped the channel. This should be done before you perform an upgrade so you can verify that everything is running properly after the upgrade.

• Click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services. The Services window appears.

• In the Services window, right-click iNTERFACEWARE Iguana and choose Properties. The iNTERFACEWARE Iguana Properties window appears.

• Click the Log On tab, and note if it is a Local System account or a password-enabled user account. If it is not a local system account, Iguana will automatically reset this option and you will need to set the password again after you perform the upgrade.

• Download and install the latest Iguana version from the iNTERFACEWARE website. The installer automatically uninstalls and reinstalls both Iguana and Chameleon. Please note that this process saves your current configuration and key registration information. It also stops the services and restarts them when it finishes the installation.

	If you want to revert back to the last installed version, just perform the last step with the previous installation.

The next step is to verify that the installation functions as expected.

• Start Iguana, and manually start and check that your channels are running normally one at a time. If not, you will have to copy the backup files you created into the iNTERFACEWARE directory. For more information, see Copying Your Backup Files into the iNTERFACEWARE Directory.

• If any of your channels are supposed to start automatically, stop each channel in question and change its configuration accordingly.

• Verify that each channel that you changed functions as expected.

Congratulations, you have successfully upgraded both Iguana and Chameleon. Note that you do not have to register Iguana and Chameleon again.
