Using char() Functions

The following table describes the delimiter functions.

In all of these functions, environment is the environment variable that is defined by Chameleon. For more information on the environment variable, see Environment Variable.

separator_char(environment,num)Returns the delimiter specified in the Options Window, where num corresponds to:
  • 0 - Segment delimiter
  • 1 - Composite delimiter
  • 2 - Sub-composite delimiter
  • 3 - Sub-sub-composite delimiter.
set_separator_char(environment, num, newValue)Sets the delimiter specified in the Options window to newValue, where num corresponds to the above values.
escape_char(environment)Returns the escape delimiter specified in the Options window. By default, this returns the \ (backslash) character.
set_escape_char(environment, newValue)Sets the escape delimiter specified in the Options window to newValue.
repeat_char(environment)Returns the repeat delimiter specified in the Options window. By default, this returns the ~ (tilde) character.
set_repeat_char(environment, newValue)Sets the repeat delimiter specified in the Options window to newValue.
