Using the Message Definition Matching Order Window
Before starting, please download this sample VMD file that you can use to perform the steps in this section.
To specify a default message:
Click Workspace > Message Definition Matching Order. The Message Definition Matching Order window appears.
Select the Ignore message, and check the Make last message match any message checkbox.
Specifying a Default Message
To test that the default message works:
Click the Browse icon on the toolbar. The Message Browser window appears.
Copy the following message:

The above ORU^R01 message is used to test the default message functionality since it does not match an ADT^A04 or ADT identity.
Paste the above message into the top pane of the Message Browser, and click Parse. Two things occur: (1) A yellow panel appears, indicating that some segments are unrecognized; (2) Chameleon successfully ignores the message. Since you do not care about any segments besides the MSH segment, no action is required for (1).
