Using the XML Translation Window

Chameleon allows you to interactively test out the available XML translation options from the XML Translation Window. This makes it easy to convert HL7 messages to and from XML.

	Checking the Auto Translate option will translate your messages automatically: (1) When a new message is copied, then pasted into the top pane; or (2) Every two seconds (whichever comes first).

To use the XML Translation Window:

• Click the XML icon in the toolbar. The XML Translation Window appears.

• Select one of the following tabs:

HL7 -> XML: Convert HL7 messages to XML.

XML -> HL7: Convert XML messages to HL7.

• Click the Change button to choose the Translation Scheme. The Options window appears. For more information about the XML options available in this window, see XML.
• In the XML Translation Scheme drop-down menu, choose from five available translations:

• Set the other XML options as necessary, and click the Apply button to confirm your changes.
• Click OK to close the Options window.
• Copy and paste a test message into the top pane of the XML Translation Window.
• Click the Translate button to convert the message. The XML Translation window converts the message accordingly, as shown below:
