Quick Tip

Does Iguana have to reside on the same server as the database?

No. Provided you have an appropriate data source configured, you can access a remote database with no problem.

Of course you will need to set up the access to deal with communications and security appropriately, and also take into consideration whether there will be any serious impact on performance. Iguana itself has a small resource footprint and does not require a high end system to run on. However, databases often require a significant amount of resources and maintenance. It is common that sites use a specialized database server remote to Iguana.
