The first thing is to remove things that are not working.
I was impressed when I spoke to Max at Iowa Radiology.
One of the smart things he did was to remove a poorly designed high availability solution that my staff had implemented and convinced foolish clients to adopt.
It was a piece of crap. In retrospect, I should have told my staff that if they didn’t personally make sure it was removed from all my clients, I would fire them within three weeks.
I was far too kind to my staff.
I have learned from my mistake.
Never let staff compromise your personal integrity. Boundaries are important.
It can happen easily. Another example was control of my most critical resources like my DNS server records and my banking.
