The Bottleneck
This is a major idea from the Theory of Constraints. It’s profound, and it really helps you think more clearly about business, software, and indeed any system—even your home.
If you are fuzzy in your thinking, you can waste a lot of time by not optimizing the main bottleneck.
This leads to wasted effort and thrashing. It’s better to be calm and realistic about what the biggest bottleneck is.
It can be hard when you are in what feels like a disaster situation.
That's actually when you want to be the most focused.
Breathe.
Slow down.
What is the first thing you fix? For me, when I tore down my Canadian company, the first thing was to take control of the bank account. Then, I made sure that my customers could get license codes.
It was like putting the ideas from The Machine by Justin Roff Marsh into action—in real time.
It was hard on many levels, but I impressed myself. I am very resourceful when you put me into a difficult situation.
