Oracle Containment Zone

Larry Ellison (the CEO of Oracle) is more of a sales guy, and he’s always struggled to deliver drivers that don’t create mysterious crashes. That works if you have a big, enthusiastic team with nothing better to do than explore what Larry has done this time.

Or rather, what Larry’s employees have done—employees who seem to worship him for some strange reason. Maybe it’s the amount of money he pays them? That always seems to make up for less-than-wonderful technology.

I can use FlowLua to basically replace the channels that have to talk to Oracle.

This way, the carnage can be contained, and Oracle doesn’t have to bring down the entire engine.

Anyway, this is just an idea for later in the week. I’m still wrestling with FlowLua myself, but like every tech CEO, I’m making wildly exaggerated claims about my ideas before I go through the grind of making them actually happen.

But I’d still rather wrestle with FlowShell than deal with the fragility that comes from messing with old code. Iguana 6 is quite stable as it is. There’s really no sense in risking that stability with patches—especially just because Larry is more of a sales guy than a tech guy.

He does seem to get more girls though, so maybe he has a point?
