How distant does have a relative have to be before you can eat them?
If you do subscribe to the evolutionary theory and I know not everyone does.
But I feel it's more internally consistent than the literal biblical creation myths. Pedigree collapse is still a bit of an issue for the Biblical origin myths which honestly seem a little fantastical since they have dealing with at least two genetic bottlenecks in our history with Adam and Eve and Noah and the Ark.
Personally that's why I think that particular creation myth is bullshit but hey dont judge me. I am also very skeptical of the immaculate conception. To me that seems like a suspicious bit of viral marketing ploy for a new religion and I honestly think it was more likely that just like the rest of us - a dude was involved. Oh that will make some people very mad but thing is I always verge towards what I see as the truth because only the truth will be consistent in the end.
Even if you cannot handle the truth.
But anyway you cannot get away from the dilemma of eating relatives. Even if you go vegan - when you eat a carrot - it just happens to be more distant relative than say a cow.
But having said that it's generally a very bad idea to eat something that is too genetically close to you - like another human - we're 99.9% genetically identical and although there have been cultures that thought this was a good idea, they have generally paid for their stupidity by enjoying exposure to diseases that they shouldn't be. The most recent example was the Fore people in the highlands of Papua New Guinea who would eat their dead relatives.
Gee - who would have thought that was a bad idea? Wow you apes do so some awful shit.
Now a much more ambigious case is pigs - why is that many cultures like Jewish and Muslim people don't eat them?.
